Meet Your Region Educators
By Ace & Penny Peterson
This bio has essentially two parts. Ace was involved in GWRRA after joining the organization in
1995. The home chapter was in
Prescott, Arizona with AZ-Y. Ace started
out as the Chapter Store person for the chapter and figured he would just sit
back and see what happened. This
was not to be, as soon Ace was asked to become the Chapter Director, this with
no prior experience in GWRRA leadership.
Ace had been involved in leadership roles with other organizations, but
was not familiar with the GWRRA “way”.
And now we come to the second part of the bio. After meeting Penny in Cortez, CO, life
changed as soon we were wed and Penny relocated down to Prescott, Arizona. This meant that Penny now had an active
part in the Chapter Director position and involvement as well in chapter life.
After three years in the Chapter Director position, Ace was asked to
step up into the position of Asst. District Educator for Arizona District. Of course this led into becoming the
Arizona District Educator. Under
the guidance of Ace & Penny, education was geared up for more training in
the establishment of Seminar Presenter courses for the Chapter Educators. Training also brought Medic First Aid
courses to the district when Ace became both an MFA Instructor and the District
MFA Coordinator. Have manikin will
travel so to speak!
Then in 2007, we decided to retire and relocate to Montrose,
Colorado. So we placed education
within Arizona in very capable hands and relished the idea of becoming “just
members”. However, fate once again
intervened.
While at the Region Rally in Cedar City, Utah, Tom and Barbara
Jefferies asked if we would be interested in taking on the Region F Educator
position. After some discussion,
we accepted pending our relocation and settling in to our new home. Just as we felt ready to make the final
move into Region F Education, we had a critical situation involving our oldest
granddaughter which meant we needed to allocate our time to that medical
emergency for several months. Tom
and Barb were gracious enough to carry on until we could resolve the situation
at the time.
In January 2008 we traveled to meet Tom and Barb and collect the
necessary items for our position in order to start performing our duties. We both enjoy the position and look
forward to serving both GWRRA and the many members in Region F for the
foreseeable future.
Ace has also assumed the mantle of Region F MFA Coordinator for GWRRA
and is to be trained as a MFA Instructor Trainer to facilitate this program in
the Region. Ace and Penny are
level four Master Tour Riders, and also have been given the honor of being
Senior Educators.
We hope to see many of you at rallies and seminars as we travel with
our Nova Blue GL 1800 around the region.
We have adopted the motto “RIDE WITH PRIDE AND CONFIDENCE” and look
forward to taking this motto far and wide.
Sincerely,
Ace H. & Penny Peterson
