West Wing 2
Region F Rally

May 27 - 30
Costa Mesa, CA

Welcome to the home page for the Region “F”un/West Wing 2 Rally.  Since we are bringing you to sunny Southern California we have decided that your theme is a Winger Family Beach Party.  So what can you expect at this event and why should you come?

An answer comes in some history.  Last year Jeffrey Goldin and his staff put together West Wing 1 and it was in Las Vegas, NV.  There were classes, vendors, an INCREDIBLE talent show with professional talent and Wingers, over 500 of you!  It gained rave reviews and most of all, you had FUN!

So Jeffrey, JR and me, and the new Region “F”un staff decided that this year should be even better than last year.  The location of California had been chosen before JR and I became the Region “F”un Directors, but since I am a native Southern California brat, I got excited to welcome you all to my home state.  So I started looking at all that is great about my California, besides the weather, and  then started to narrow it down to what can be done in a weekend, a long weekend, but a weekend none the less.  So does that include Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Sea World and Universal Studios?  No.

Although you could do that, we started looking at awesome vendors, great talent, incredible education, good food and great motorcycle roads.  Does that surprise you?  Yes, we have great motorcycle roads in California and we are not talking about the freeways!

We have heard people say they don’t want to drive the LA freeways, guess what?  Neither do we!  We will have a guided ride on Saturday and on Sunday through some beautiful areas.  We’ll have other routes you can do yourself, including the beautiful coast highway where the views will be awesome and the traffic may snarl on Memorial Day weekend.  Another question we have had is can I get to the hotel without traveling on the LA freeways?  The answer is absolutely!  Now if you fly into John Wayne Airport then the free hotel shuttle will bring you to the hotel, but for all of us who will ride to the rally we will post 2 routes from the California border to the hotel with minimal to no freeway travel.  That means you’ll need to plan a bit more time but you’ll see some boring to beautiful countryside.  We challenge you to send to us routes to get to the rally without using much freeway and we’ll post them on the Region website to share with your fellow Wingers.

So now that we have you here, what is there to do?  We will start the rally on Thursday with the new Officer Certification Program that will run all day and ½ day on Friday.  We will offer on Friday, the Rider Education Seminar Presenter certification program.  These are both required classes, OCP for all Operations Officers to take to learn more about our organization and how to make it the best experience for the members we serve, and the Rider Ed class for all of those who are dedicated to Rider Education and what to share your knowledge of rider ed with your fellow members.  In offering both of these classes so early in the program we will gain a great education opportunity and still give you plenty of rally time to have FUN!  We will also be offering the ARC and TRC class at the rally.  The classroom will be on Friday at 1PM and the range will be Saturday at 8AM.  You will find a new registration form for these opportunities posted below.  If you have already registered then just send the form in by itself with the box checked that you have already registered and if you haven’t registered yet, then just add it to your registration.  Our vendors will start setting up on Thursday, who knows there could be some great early buys!  Thursday night will conclude with free pizza and a roaring fun game of Bingo, don’t miss out!

On Friday, we have a great opening night planned that will include our Region COY (Couple of the Year) and IOY (Individual of the Year) selections and then conclude with a Beach Party/Ice Cream Social around the fantastic hotel pool.

The California Gold Angels and the Arizona Precision Motorcycle Drill Teams will be performing at the rally.  We are so excited to have both Region Drill Teams attending and the show should be a heart-stopper and something you won’t want to miss!!

Friday and Saturday will be packed full of fun and educational classes in many subjects.  Since GWRRA has joined Facebook, we will have a class, taught by one of our very own Wingers, on, Facebook, I’ve logged in now what.  Come and get tips of how to use the great social networking tool.  The vendors will be in full swing and we have confirmed that Sue of Signs and Wonders will be here and her artwork on a bike is spectacular!  We will have a link from our website to hers so you can make reservations early.

Sunday will be a bit different that past rallies.  Because we came so far west we know that some of you will want to start home today so we’ve planned the day accordingly.  We will have a morning awards presentation and if you must leave you can after that.  For those who stay, the afternoon will hold more fun and education and we’ll conclude the night with In and Out Burgers, made on site (no fries though L) and we’ll come in for closing ceremonies that will end with the playing of the Price is Right game Winger style!

So don’t miss out on all the planned fun that your Region “F”un staff is working on and planning for you.  We want this to be one of the best rallies you’ve ever been too!  We’re also looking for suggestions for 2011, so if you have some location ideas please email them to us and we’ll start exploring and maybe we’ll be able to announce that new location at closing ceremonies.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
